Long COVID primary care visits marked by breathing, sleeping problems

Category: Health

Long COVID symptoms contribute moderately to primary care visits, with common issues including breathing problems and sleep disturbances. A study using data from the American Family Cohort found that primary care visits for long COVID are less frequent than those in subspecialty clinics. The research compared COVID-19 patients to historical controls with flu-like illnesses, revealing higher rates of certain symptoms among COVID-19 patients. Overall, long COVID visits accounted for only 12% of post-COVID patient visits, potentially due to milder initial infections.
