Triple-digit temperatures, industrial fans, and carts used to kill millions of sick chickens with gas may have caused the largest bird flu outbreak among U.S. workers. Workers at a poultry farm in Colorado were exposed to the H5N1 influenza virus while killing infected chickens. The infected workers showed mild symptoms and were treated with Tamiflu. The virus has not shown significant changes in transmission or severity. The outbreak likely originated from infected cattle in the region.
