Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect until 9 p.m. Thursday

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for Eastern North Carolina, including the Outer Banks, until 9:00 p.m. on July 18. The primary threat includes damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph, isolated hail, and torrential rainfall leading to flash flooding, particularly along and north of Highway 264. A high risk of rip currents is also present for beaches south of Cape Hatteras.
