Terry and Carolyn Dooley, both 88, were the first fatalities from severe storms in the St. Louis area. While checking on their property during heavy rain, their SUV was swept away by rising waters. Carolyn was found dead inside the vehicle, while Terry was swept away. A nearby motorist managed to escape through his sunroof as the water rose rapidly, highlighting the severity of the flooding.
