FDA approves new blood test to detect colorectal cancer

Category: Health

The FDA has approved a new blood test called Shield for screening colorectal cancer in individuals over 45 with average risk. While this test aims to increase screening rates, doctors emphasize that colonoscopies remain the most accurate method for detecting cancer and removing precancerous polyps. Colonoscopies are recommended every 10 years, while the blood test can be done every three years.
