Bipartisan Lawmakers Seek To Remove Marijuana Rescheduling Ban From Key Spending Bill

Bipartisan lawmakers are pushing to remove a provision in the 2025 CJS spending bill that restricts the Justice Department from rescheduling marijuana. Rep. Nancy Mace and Rep. Rashida Tlaib have introduced amendments to strike this restriction. Other amendments related to cannabis and hemp regulations are also being proposed in various appropriations bills, including efforts to allow adult-use marijuana sales in Washington, D.C. and to prevent federal job applicant testing for marijuana.
